Please see history page for a detailed account of our origins.
Although originating from an older system called Yaku Kobujutsu, TAIHO JUTSU or 'Arresting Art' was born in 1947 after a review by the Japanese Police who were responsible for the first official manual.
In 1973 TAIHO JUTSU was introduced to the United Kingdom by Brian EUSTACE Sensei, when he was asked to review the self defence system for the British police officers.
In 1996 the British Police moved away from Taiho Jutsu in favour of a very simplified system of officer protection, which did not require regular training or practice to maintain any profficiency.
TAIHO JUTSU is a martial art that despite having been taught and practised almost exclusively by police officers, was opened up to non-police students under the continued guidance of Sensei Eustace. Taiho Jutsu continues through a number of clubs throughout the UK.
